Welcome to our web site
The Wolverhampton Black Strategic Health Group (WBSHG) is a registered charity set up in July 1999 with a remit to:
- Support Positive Health Change and Community Development
- Develop a cohesive one-voice approach to tackling inequalities
Our aims and objectives are to:
- Provide BME led community, voluntary groups and individuals with a channel for the exchange of information, support and access to lifelong learning opportunities in relation to issues concerning general health and social care needs.
- Act at a strategic level as a representative body in voicing the views of the BME communities to influence policy and decision-makers at a local and regional level.
- Work in partnership with BME groups to access resources, support, funding for community regeneration and development initiatives.
- Campaign to reduce inequalities and disadvantages in health and social care provision available to the BME communities.
And our future priorities are defined as:
- Maternity Services
- Diabetes
- Asian Mental Health in men
- Young People & Health
- Set up an Email consultation group
- Review of Race Equality Schemes
This web site is an introduction to some of the work that we do, and also provides downloadable reports and the organisation's monthly newsletter. It will grow and develop in the coming months.
